Do I have to tell you if I renovate my home?
You have to contact us if the work:
- Increases the value of the home (for instance, if you add a storey or an extension or if you finish the basement)
- Reduces or increases the risk of damage to your home, for instance, if you:
- Replace a water heater that’s more than 10 years old
- Replace a roof that’s more than 20 years old
- Install a fireplace
- Buy a swimming pool or a hot tub
You don’t have to tell us if you make minors cosmetic changes, such as painting a room or renovating a bathroom.
Confirmation of insurance
How can I get a temporary confirmation of insurance after making a change to my insurance policy online?
Have you made a change to your auto insurance policy using your Online Services account? When you finish the transaction, you’ll get a temporary confirmation of insurance that you can print. This is an official document that can temporarily replace your insurance policy for 7 days.
Do you need to provide proof of insurance to a dealership or creditor? Please contact us. We’ll send you a copy of your confirmation of insurance by email, regular mail or fax, whichever you prefer.
The temporary confirmation of insurance and the proof of insurance are not insurance contracts. They are provided for information purposes only, subject to all the terms, conditions, exclusions and provisions of your insurance policy.

Renew an insurance policy
Can I renew my home or car insurance online?
No, you cannot renew your insurance online. But if you use pre-authorized payments and want to keep the same coverage, you don’t need to do anything. Your policy renews on the date specified in your policy document.
