Compensation

The Personal Insurance Company is a direct writer that sells home and auto insurance in all applicable provinces, except for Quebec. (Auto insurance is not available in Manitoba, Saskatchewan or British Columbia due to government-run plans). The Personal General Insurance Inc., is the direct writer that sells home and auto insurance for the province of Quebec. Agents are salaried; there are no commission payments made to brokers or external middlemen.

Ownership

Our parent company is Desjardins General Insurance Group Inc., which, in turn, is owned by Desjardins Group.

Through its various subsidiaries, Desjardins Group offers a wide variety of financial services, insurance products, trust services, investment and asset management and many other financial services across Canada. The property and casualty division, Desjardins General Insurance Group Inc. offers general insurance directly to:

• Individuals in Ontario and Alberta through Certas Direct Insurance Company;
• Individuals in Ontario through Certas Home and Auto Insurance company
• Individuals and small businesses in Quebec through Desjardins General Insurance Inc.;
• The employees or members of our partner groups across Canada, through The Personal Insurance Company and The Personal General Insurance Inc.
