Win a “Choose Your Privilege” Prize Package Rules and Regulations 2009

1. This contest is sponsored by The Personal Insurance Company and The Personal General Insurance Inc. (collectively referred to hereinafter as “The Personal”). It runs from January 1, 2009 to December 31, 2009 closing at 11:59 p.m. (Eastern Standard Time). The winner¹ will be chosen by electronic draw on January 21, 2010 at 4 p.m. at The Personal’s head office, 6300 boulevard de la Rive-Sud, Lévis, Québec G6V 6P9.

2. One (1) prize of a total value of $50,000 (CDN) will be awarded.  The prize will be awarded in the form of a $50,000 Travel Voucher that can be applied to one of the prize packages described below or to a travel prize package customized by the winner, and is redeemable at Les Voyages Laurier Du Vallon.

3. To enter the contest, individuals must:

1. reside in Canada;
2. have attained the age of majority in their province of residence by December 31, 2009; and
3. on the date of the draw, be employees or members of an organization having an agreement with The Personal; and
4. request a home, auto² or business (Quebec only) insurance quote³ from The Personal between January 1, 2009 and December 31, 2009 (no purchase necessary) OR be the holder of a policy in effect on December 31, 2009, with The Personal to be automatically entered in the contest. 

4. The odds of winning depend on the number of entries received before the contest closes. Only one entry per person per insurance product will be eligible for the draw.

5. The winner, who will have to respect all the conditions mentioned in these rules and regulations, will be contacted by telephone within 10 business days of the draw, after which the organizers of the draw will proceed to choose another winner. This draw will take place in the same circumstances as those specified in paragraph 1 of the present rules, except for the date that will not be the same. To claim the prize, the winner must correctly answer a timed, mathematical skill-testing question by telephone. The prize must be accepted as awarded, and is not transferable to another person. The winner will receive the prize within 30 days following the draw, in conformity with paragraph 2 of these rules.

6. A contest entrant will be the person whose name appears on the insurance policy or on the insurance quote. In the case where two people jointly hold an insurance policy or have jointly requested a quote, the person who is an employee or member of an organization having an agreement with The Personal will have to answer the mathematical skill-testing question and the prize will be awarded in his or her name. In the case where both people are employees or members of the organization having an agreement with The Personal, either one can answer the skill-testing question but the prize will be awarded in both names.

7. In the case where the policyholder or person requesting a quote is a corporate body, the mathematical skill-testing question will be submitted to the person mentioned on the insurance policy or in the insurance quote, as an individual representing that corporate body, or to any individual representing that corporate body and the prize will be awarded in the name of the corporate body that appears on the insurance policy or insurance quote.

8. All decisions made by the contest organizers are final and can not be appealed. All quote requests are the property of The Personal.

9. The contest organizers reserve the right to disqualify any entrant or cancel the entry of any person who violates these contest rules. Any entry deemed ineligible by the organizers will be automatically rejected.

10. The winner must consent to the use of his or her name, place of residence, photograph, voice and any statement about the prize in any contest-related advertising, without compensation.

11. Employees, sales representatives and agents of The Personal or entities belonging to the same group, and persons with whom they reside, are not eligible to enter this contest.

12. For the residents of the Province of Quebec, disputes with regard to the conduct or organization of this advertising contest may be submitted to the Régie des alcohols, des courses et des jeux du Québec for a ruling. Disputes with regard to the awarding of a prize may be submitted to the Régie only for the purpose of helping the parties reach a settlement.

13. The Personal reserves theright to change the contest conditions or to terminate the contest at anytime whatsoever without notice, subject to the approval of the Régiedes alcools, des courses et des jeux du Québec.

14. All travel booking arrangements will be madethough Les Voyages Laurier Du Vallon.

15. The winner acknowledges that upon receipt of the travel voucher, all obligations related to this travel voucher become the complete and exclusive responsibility of the company that issued the travel voucher

16. The prize package chosen by the winner may be modified to suit the winner’s own requirements, with the approval of the travel agency and The Personal.

17. The content and value of the prize packages are estimates. The value of the prize packages may vary dependant on time o ftravel. The cash balance value is an amount available to cover fluctuations in package prices at time of booking.

18. Each segment of each prize package has an estimated dollar value (based on double occupancy).These estimates include a value for air transportation and accommodations for two people. There has also been a portion allocated for ground transfers, food and incidentals. As the cost of air transportation will vary depending on the location of the winner, this portion of the prize will be calculated upon booking and the balance paid out in traveller’s cheques. All other fees and expenses that are not mentioned in the packages will be the responsibility of the winner and/or his/her travel companion.

19. Availability of event tickets as detailed may be limited depending on time of booking and time of travel.

20. The winner and travel companion are solely responsible for obtaining their own travel insurance and any travel documents such as passport or travel visa if necessary, in advance of the departure dates. The Personal is not responsible in the event the winner and/or travel companion are refused entry to the destination country or re-entry to Canada for whatever reason.

21. The winner will have two (2) years to redeem the prize in its entirety. Should the winner not redeem the full value of the travel voucher during that time, the balance of the unredeemed portion will be paid out in cash by The Personal.

22. The winner can choose to have the balance of the unredeemed portion of the travel voucher paid out in cash by The Personal at any time during the two (2) years following his or her acceptance of the travel voucher.

23. If the winner does not want or cannot accept this prize, the winner can choose to receive a cheque for $50,000 (CDN). The winner will have two weeks following the date at which he/she was contacted to advise The Personal of his/her choice. Once this choice has been confirmed to The Personal in writing , no modification will be accepted and a cheque will be presented to the winner.

24. The Personal shall not be held responsible for lost or late entries due to any deficiency that could affect the availability and the normal functioning of the web site or for any problems with the telecommunication systems during the course of the contest. Furthermore, The Personal cannot be held responsible for any damage to an entrant’s computer or computer system components used to enter the contest.

25. By participating in this contest, all entrants release The Personal from any liability for damages that may result from entering the contest or accepting and using the prize, should the person be declared the winner. Before receiving the prize, the winner must agree to sign a Declaration and Release of Liability form should The Personal request it. Legal says it is strongly recommending having the winner sign a release of liability form, especially when the prize is a trip. Also, if the travel companion is a minor, we should have a parent of that minor sign a release.

26. This contest is subject to all applicable laws.
