Contest

This contest is sponsored and organized by The Personal Insurance Company and The Personal General Insurance Inc. (collectively referred to hereinafter as “The Personal”). The contest runs from April 1, 2023, to December 31, 2023, at 11:59 p.m. (Eastern Standard Time).

Herein, The Personal refers to The Personal General Insurance Inc. in Quebec and The Personal Insurance Company in all other provinces and territories of Canada.

Exclusivity

The contest is open exclusively to Canadian Forces Moral & Welfare Services (“CFMWS”) authorized patrons eligible for home, auto1 and/or business (Quebec only) insurance under the CFMWS insurance program at The Personal.

Prizes

There is a total of $15,000 (CDN) in prizes available to be won, consisting of the following:

  • Three (3) prizes valued at $5,000 (CDN) each. Prizes will be awarded in the form of a cheque.

Eligibility

  1. To be eligible for the contest, contestants must:
    • Be a resident of Canada;
    • Have attained the age of majority in their province or territory of residence on the date of each draw;
    • Be a CFMWS authorized patron and be eligible for home, auto and/or business (Quebec only) insurance under the CFMWS insurance program on the date of each draw;
    • Have either: (i) obtained a home, auto, or business (Quebec only) insurance quote2 from The Personal between April 1, 2023 and the end of the month preceding the date of each draw, OR (ii) have a home, auto, or business (Quebec only) insurance policy with The Personal in force at the end of the month preceding the date of each draw. For more information, see “Details of the Draws” section below.
  2. No entry form or purchase necessary. One entry per person, per insurance product (home, auto and/or business (Quebec only)). Maximum 3 entries per person.
  3. Executive Management of both CANEX and the CFMWS, as well as the persons with whom they are domiciled, may not enter the contest and are not eligible to win.
  4. The Personal, its employees, representatives, agents or mandataries or those of any other entity that is part of Desjardins General Insurance Group Inc. or one of its subsidiaries, as well as the persons with whom they are domiciled, may not enter the contest and are not eligible to win.

Details of the Draws

  1. The winners of the three (3) prizes will be selected by means of three (3) electronic draws held at 3 p.m. (Eastern Standard Time) at The Personal’s office located at 3 Robert Speck Pkwy, Mississauga, ON, L4Z 2G5, on the following dates:
    • On July 6, 2023: one (1) draw among all persons who have obtained a home, auto and/or business (Quebec only) insurance quote from The Personal between April 1, 2023 and June 30, 2023, OR who have a home, auto, or business (Quebec only) insurance policy in force with The Personal on June 30, 2023.
      Prize: $5,000
    • On October 6, 2023: one (1) draw among all persons who have obtained a home, auto, and/or business (Quebec only) insurance quote from The Personal between April 1, 2023 and September 30, 2023, OR who have a home, auto, or business (Quebec only) insurance policy in force with The Personal on September 30, 2023.
      Prize: $5,000
    • On January 4, 2024: one (1) draw among all persons who have obtained a home, auto, and/or business (Quebec only) insurance quote from The Personal between April 1, 2023 and December 31, 2023, OR who have a home, auto, or business (Quebec only) insurance policy in force with The Personal on December 31, 2023.
      Prize: $5,000
  2. The odds of winning depend on the number of insurance quote requests obtained and the number of CFMWS authorized patrons in the databases of The Personal that have an auto, home or business (Quebec only) insurance policy in force for the period applicable to each draw, in accordance with the “Eligibility” section above.
  3. An entrant cannot win more than one (1) prize.
  4. The contest entrant is the person whose name appears on the insurance policy or insurance quote request. In the event that two individuals are joint insurance policyholders or jointly request an insurance quote, the person who is a CFMWS authorized patron will be the one who must answer the mathematical skill-testing question and will receive the prize in their name. If both individuals are CFMWS authorized patrons, either may answer the mathematical skill-testing question, but the prize will be awarded in the names of both individuals.
  5. If the insurance policy or insurance quote request is issued in the name of a corporate body, the mathematical skill-testing question will be submitted to the person whose name appears on the insurance policy or insurance quote request as the representative of that corporate body, or to any other designated representative thereof, and the prize will be awarded in the name of the corporate body indicated on the insurance policy or insurance quote request.
  6. To obtain their prize, each winner must meet the eligibility criteria mentioned herein and:
  1. Be reached by telephone within ten (10) business days of the draw; and
  2. Correctly answer a time-limited, mathematical skill-testing question asked over the telephone; and
  3. Accept one of the prizes listed above as awarded; and
  4. Consent to the use of their name, place of residence, photograph, voice recording and likeness without any compensation whatsoever;
  5. The winners will receive a letter confirming that they are the winner as well as a Declaration and Release of Liability Form by registered mail. The winner must sign and return the completed Declaration and Release of Liability Form within the period specified in the letter.

Failing this, The Personal will select another winner. This subsequent draw will proceed in the same manner as described herein, with the exception of the date, which cannot be the same.

  1. The prizes ($5,000 cheque) will be couriered to the winners within six (6) weeks of each respective draw date.

General Provisions

  1. The contest is subject to all applicable laws.
  2. All insurance quote requests are the property of The Personal.
  3. The Personal cannot be held liable for lost, misdirected, or late entries, or for any failure, for any reason whatsoever, that may affect the availability or operation of the website or any telecommunications systems and networks for the duration of this contest. Moreover, The Personal cannot be held liable for any damage to entrants’ computers or to components of computer systems used to enter this contest.
  4. The Personal reserves the right to disqualify any entrant or cancel any entry that does not comply with these rules.
  5. Prizes will be awarded to the winners only. The awarding or the right to receive the prize cannot be transferred to the successors or heirs of the winners.
  6. The winners recognize that, upon receipt of their prize, the delivery of products or services related to the aforementioned becomes the entire and exclusive responsibility of the winner and releases The Personal of all liability for any damages that could result from the acceptance or use of the prize.
  7. The Personal disclaims any and all responsibility in the event of loss or theft of any of the prizes.
  8. By entering this contest, participants release The Personal of all liability for any damage that could result from said entry.
  9. In the event that the organizers are unable to award the prize as described in the contest rules, they reserve the right to award a similar prize with an equivalent value or, at their sole discretion, to award the equivalent value of the prize described in these contest rules in cash.
  10. The Personal reserves the right to modify the contest conditions or terminate the contest at any time, without notice. In Quebec only, the approval of the Régie des alcools, des courses et des jeux du Québec is required.
  11. All decisions made by The Personal are final and binding. For Quebec residents only, any litigation respecting the conduct or organization of a publicity contest may be submitted to the Régie des alcools, des courses et des jeux du Québec for a ruling. Any litigation respecting the awarding of a prize may be submitted to the Régie only for the purpose of helping the parties reach a settlement.
  12. The Personal assumes no responsibility whatsoever in the event it becomes unable to act as a result of an event or a situation outside of its control or a strike, lockout or any labour dispute in progress within institutions, organizations or businesses whose services are used to conduct this contest.
  13. The CFMWS and CANEX are not associated with this contest and do not sponsor it in any way.
  14. A French version of these rules is available on the following Web site: www.lapersonnelle.com/offres/concours/reglement-concours-canex. In the event of a discrepancy between the English and French versions of these rules, the English version shall prevail.
