Unclaimed property

Under British Columbia’s Unclaimed Property Act, companies must make reasonable efforts to locate and contact the rightful owner of property in their possession. After a certain amount of time, the property becomes unclaimed. For insurance companies, the most common types of unclaimed property are settlement cheques and premium reimbursements.
