Coverages E, F, G and H
These coverages are included in standard insurance policies. They insure you for unintentional bodily injury or property damage that you cause to another person, anywhere in the world. For example:
- your bathtub overflows and causes damage to your downstairs neighbour’s unit
- you leave a candle burning and it starts a fire that spreads to other units
- your cleaner falls and gets hurt while cleaning your windows
- your kid accidentally injures a friend during playtime and you need to pay the ambulance fees
- the home you’re renting in Mexico is damaged by an accidental fire
If someone sues you, your financial situation could be put into jeopardy without this coverage. Most people choose $1 million of liability coverage, but you can increase the amount up to $5 million under certain conditions.

Ground water and sewer back-up
Water Damage ─ Ground Water and Sewer Back-Up (excluding flood caused by the overflow of a body of water)
Endorsement 16cThis insures you if water leaks, overflows or backs up from places like sewers and septic tanks and causes sudden and accidental damage to your property.
It can also cover you if ground water seeps in through basement windows, doors or floors, for instance because of a problem with the subsoil drainage pipe.
For example, if a sewer backs up, you would be covered for the cost of replacing, repairing or cleaning your water-damaged property, including any belongings in a personal storage space, like a storage locker.
